Hello. I have used a manual grout saw in the past. It looks like the photograph below. For larger area sometimes motorized devices like a dremmel can be used if you are very careful. You do not want to chip the tile.
Here’s a Hometalk link for you to consider. Hope this helps

How to Clean Grout and Install New Grout That Won't Stain
You would normally use a dremel to cut out the old grout and then replace it. If the existing grout is in good condition you can paint it.
Hi Jeanne, the easiest way is to use a grout pen. You can find them in different colors on amazon - https://www.amazon.com/s?k=grout+pen&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
you can buy basically paint pens to change the color of grout
Physically removing grout is extremely tedious and time consuming. This is why people are suggesting restoring the grout.
A grout saw is the proper tool for removal.
A Dremel tool will definitely not “care” if it takes tile with it or not, and they cost a lot of $, by the time you buy the right bits.
On the other hand, a Dremel tool is much faster, is a great tool if you have a steady hand and like to do a lot of those kinds of machining processes.

Hello Jeanne,
Paint it with Copydex for white or Permanent Markers for colour. If you wish to change it - remove with a dremel drill.. It will be worth it in the end!
