Are they plastic or metal?
If they are the kind that have a metal bottom with cardboard sides, I think would disintegrate on the sides and the bottom would rust.
Hi! I'm not sure which project you're asking about, but, if it isn't plastic, and you want to use it as a planter filled with dirt and plants that need to be watered, it won't work for you. Maybe another project would work for them? Meanwhile you could use any plastic container such as cottage cheese containers, takeout containers, etc. Good luck!
If the containers are cardboard they won't hold up for long HOWEVER you could line them with heavy duty plastic to make them last longer as planters.
The diaper wipes containers would work better because they are plastic and won't disintegrate as fast.
Is this the one you're thinking of? If so, you can ask the person who wrote this post in the question section at the end of the project. Good luck!

Portable Plastic Planter
If you are considering using a formula plastic container to plant a plant I think that will work. Make sure to make some holes in the bottom so water can drain.
Formula containers, if cardboard, will decompose. That being said, you can still use them but plan on transplanting sooner rather than later. It maybe just enough to get your plants started.
Another plan would be to start your seedlings in these cardboard containers lined with plastic so the sides will not cause container failure. You will have to punch holes in the metal bottom for drainage.
Best to you and your creativity.

I would use them as temporary planters, or if you could put a plastic container inside, that would help them last a bit longer.
