Hi Natasha, Here's some info about painting area rugs. Depending upon the depth of the pile, it willl be relatively easy or more difficult and time consuming if it is a deep pile. You can mask off areas to create a design of any type you wish. Make a plan and have fun with it!

You can change a rug by using Sharpie markers. Another option is to use stencils for more complex designs. Or you can create your own design patterns using painters tape.
If the like is low, I think stencils and paint lens or markers would be great! Stay well!
You could paint the entire rug with a fabric paint. If too plain you could then add colour via artistic free style splashes etc or more controlled design. Be brave and have fun!
