Hvac issue and need assistance
I have been battling hvac problems for awhile. I live in an all electric home. I have a heat pump with back up emergency heat. The system is all in the ceiling (via spacepak)of my tri-level home. The issue I have is that my heat pump will run outside but the air handler will not turn on inside UNTIL the aux heat kicks in. Had a couple warm days and wanted to test the a/c...same thing. Outside unit would run and the fan wouldnt come
on inside. I turned just the fan on and it finally kicked on after a few minutes. I then shut it down and tried again after a bit...nothing. I kick on the aux heat and the fan immediately comes on but i just cant get it to run with just heat pump or a/c...have tried to get a new system but I cant seem to get people around here to want to mess with it.

This is the kind of situation that probably requires a specialist to look at it and diagnose your problem. Do you know who installed the heat pump? Are they able to come service it? It's tough if no one in the area wants to take a look at it. Are companies a little further away willing to come out there?
I will have to call some companies out of the area I guess. I do not know who installed it. It is a real weird system
So a HVAC co won't come in and install a non heat pump system? You may have to run new duct wotk, especially on first floor since hot air rises and for heat it. works best with floor level registers. This does mean tearing up walls, etc. I am so sorry you have this issue. My sister in law had the same problem and was finally told heat pump systems were not what they promised. Finally had her house reworked to a more conventional HVAC system. That was 10 years ago and costed her $25,000.00. She sold her house recently and got it back in improvements. Only house in neighborhood without heat pump, sold for $50,000. 00 over other houses there.
I am not necessarily against heat pumps...mine is an older model. The problem I am having with companies is they dont want to come in and put a whole new system in. I want non invasive as possible. I like my house how it is, minus the hvac.

You did not mention how old your hvac system is...give the company a call with the make and model numbers of your system problem components. They all have hotlines and technicians standing by.
Hi Jade. I'm Cindy. My husband (who has HVAC training) thinks it's a relay problem. But the only to be sure is to call an HVAC company. He says it could be 2 or 3 different things. He recommends that you call an HVAC company. There's no way to know which problem it is without checking it. Good luck Jade.
YES keep calling around until you get someone that sounds knowledgable on the phone that will work on your system. We have had sooooo many HVAC heat pump problems over the years since we bought our house that when an opportunity came up to replace it because it was dead, we decided to switch to a gas system. We had to wait to get approval from our local Gas and electric company because they were running a deal and we had to get a plumber and and a Hvac company to install it. All in all, it was only $2-3000 more than a brand new heat pump system to switch it out for gas!! It was totally worth it. The gas is so much cheaper and it is a warmer heat with a lot less problems. Something you might want to think about if you can do it in your house!

Call a local HVAC pro to check your system.
Find the manufacturer and any serial number. Then call or email them and let them recommend service tech's in your area. So sorry no one in your immediate area is willing to help. You have my sympathy.
