How do I paint over kitchen backsplash?
I have kitchen backsplash that has been up for a good 20 years and I was wondering if I can 0aint over it? It is white with the odd one having flowers or a hen on it. I would really love just to buy the peel and stick backsplash tile but I am not sure if I can do that either. I just redid the cabinets light grey on top and a little darker grey on the bottom with white countertops. Any ideas to fix this problem cheap would be greatly appreciated.

Can I paint a glass tile backsplash a different color?
Do you know what your backsplash is made out of? Is it ceramic tile? Laminate? I think you should be able to do something with it, but you'll probably need to know what type of material it is.
Hi there, they make truly beautiful back splashes now that are inexpensive and literally peal and stick. I would go check out your local home improvement store!
You can apply peel and stick tile over the tile. Just make sure the tile is clean. You can paint the tile if you choose.

DIY Painted Backsplash
I have seen some beautiful sheets of paneling. Cut to size and tack up as a back splash. Best part is that you can change this whenever you want a new look and for less then $40 (usually).
Lowes has some barnwood paneling for about $30 a sheet (which is 4 x 8 feet).
You can paint the tile. Oil based paint sticks and last longer on tile. Make sure the tile is perfectly clean first.
Maybe, it depends on the material. You can always try.
Yes! I painted over my tile backsplash last year with zinnister oil based stain blocking paint and primer, topped it with a poly coat. It cleans up beautifully and has lasted thus far!
You for sure can paint it. Depending on what the backsplash is made from will determine what the steps are to paint it. You may want to use a bonding primer like this one. It sticks super good to just about any type of surface. Then when it's dry, you can coat your backsplash with 2 coats of latex paint in your choice of color.
Most surfaces can be painted but how you prep and the type of paint you use will depend on the back splash material.
Hello Ontario.
Keep in mind that any prices quoted from the US are going to be much higher in Canada, even though both Lowes and HD are American companies.
Thank you for all your responses. You have given me some good ideas to cover up the old tile backsplash in my kitchen. I will for sure take before and after pictures and post them. Again thank you.
