Is it worth painting an 80s oak entertainment center white?
What paint would be best to use? How labor intensive is this job? There are 3 sections to this oak entertainment center. I want a modern look not farmhouse style.
Other than sanding and re-staining or painting I don't have any other suggestions.
So it depends on your style, but if you're into a country, cottage or farmhouse look, you could paint it, swap out the hardware and add a cute moulding or curtain over the opening on the headboard.
first you have to sand the dresser , pull drawers sand. When that is finished clean with tac cloth to get all dust off. Now you can restrain or paint with chalk paint. Or after painting you can choose to stencil a favorite design on parts of the dresser.
You will have to either use a finishing wax or a polyurethane to make the dresser finish last longer.
Thank you. I know I have seen this common set done over some where, but can't seem to put my finger on it! LOL
You could chalk paint it
I would sand, chalk paint top and bottom black Then restain or use drawers as is with new handles/knobs. Same on bed
Use chalk board- there are some in beautiful colors to match those pretty linens! https://bachelorettepadflip.com/2016/09/28/my-chalk-paint-of-choice/
You can paint it and change the hardware. Scuff with fine steel wool, clean with denatured alcohol, prime, and paint.
Thank you all so much!
Generals Gel Stain! It's the best, don't have to sand and you can make it as opaque or dark as you like.
I would use a chalk paint and change a hardware ...Chalk paint is the best no prep work is needed
post modern 80's shapes are coming back, but this oak that screams 80's country style which I am not a huge fan of...Maybe get a paint sprayer and put a dark high gloss laquer
