I prefer bleach and water 50/50 in a spray bottle. Spray it on, let it sit, scrub with an old toothbrush. Be careful not to get the bleach spray on your clothes!
I have used bleach and a wet rag or cotton balls pulled to make it bigger around where any mold might be and let it sit for awhile till the mold is gone. the scrubbing bubbles foam spray works great but it can be expensive if used everyday like I did until I found a cheaper and effective way to kill mold and clean. the best way I found that works and is cheap and effective is white vinegar first you can put in a spray bottle and soak the area let sit for about 5 minutes to an hour depending on how much mold and soap scum is there then use a scrub brush I also like to use baking soda and water to make a paste let that sit for awhile then use a scrub brush to get rid of all the dirt and grime. to keep it from coming back use white vinegar and equal parts of water in a spray bottle and spray the shower after use that should keep everything clean and disinfected.
Bleach and a scourer work great.
Vinegar will kill the mold spores, then you can lighten the staining with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine bleach. But you might want to just remove & replace it. It's an easy job.
Here is a natural grout cleaner: https://www.bobvila.com/articles/homemade-grout-cleaner/
I am a huge fan of hot water, vinegar and a toothbrush. I've also used a steam cleaner to loosen things up a bit before I scrub. Been doing it for years. Watch out for bleach, it can yellow the grout.
You may need to remove the old grout and regrout it. It could be a silicone grout which molds easily. Here is a video on how to change it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uyn5RmLzyc
Hi Cathy - There are several ways to get rid of mold, but most importantly, you need to address the root cause to keep it from returning. This article focuses on the bathroom, but is an overall great article that covers methods of how to remove mold, if bleach is safe to use, and how to prevent it from coming back. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
