Recycling old door, no door knob?
Im painting an old door to use either indoors (put hooks to hang coats, etc), or outside as a front porch decoration. However, either way, there are two holes (probably an 1.5" diameter) where the door knobs once were. I don't need the knobs for what I intend to use it for, but would prefer not to have the holes! Any ideas? Thanks!

Glass door knobs
I have 8 glass door knobs that I got at a yard sale for $1!! I couldn't pass them up. But what can I do with them????
You can fill them with pieces of wood or cut a round dowel as a plug.
I'd put a knob on and you could hang things on it. You can get a "dummy knob" which doesn't turn!
Hello Lynn,
You could either fill the holes with timber. Draw on a piece of paper the diameter of the hole and measure the depth. Cut a suitable piece of timber the right length and cut or whittle it to fit. Secure with wood glue.
You could panel over the door at that point (right across the door. Then you could finish it to your requirements, or completely panel over the entire door. Best wishes.
You could put some decorative circles over the hole. You could add more to make just using one less noticeable.
If you have a hole saw the same diameter as the holes in the door, cut a hole in a piece of wood the same thickness as the door, then use the piece you cut out to insert into the door and glue it in. You will probably need some spackle to finish it off.
To add onto to what Jerry suggested, you can use a hole saw slightly larger than the diameter of the existing hole (1 3/4"?). Enlarge the existing hole with the larger diameter hole saw. That way you know it will be an exact match to the plug you cut with the same hole saw.
You can cut a piece of wood that is slightly smaller and add wood putty around it. However, I would do a one-sided door knob and use it to hang purses.
Thanks everyone! All good suggestions!
Hi Lynn, here are some cool ways to re purpose that door!! Hope it helps you out, as far as patching the holes, you can buy plastic discs that will cover the holes for you.
