You can paint your shutters! I would pick two colors. One for the shutters and a coordinating color for the door! They don't have to be the same!
Yellow is a warm color so you can go to a cool color to compliment what looks like a yellow house!

Hi Tammy
I would paint the door as well as the shutters if you want to spice things up. Here is some info for you:

That’s a great way to update your home! Do you have a photo that shows more of the house? Siding looks like cream? What is the roof color? Definitely paint your front door too - but a different color than the shutters . Make it pop! :)
Agree paint the door different than shutters. Your personal taste/ decor style might dictate your choice. Some folks like bolder colors some More expected neutral.
I personally find browsing awesome visuals on Houzz or Pinterest web sites to help collect some ideas to consider/ exclude others in aspects of color choice and styles for paint applications.
You might want to consider browsing over at these sites utilizing key word home exterior paint color searches. Additionally some paint stores have pamphlets showing the different agreeable exterior colors together....or they did back in 2015 when I was trying to decide. Hope this helps
Painting shutters is an amazing difference in the appearance of your home. I would absolutely paint them and make the front door either match, or use it as a contrast. I have done this for people and if you go LIGHTER, it will take at least THREE OR FOUR coats especially since the sun dries out the shutter and the paint just soaks in.
Color is a personal choice. Whatever you, remove the shutters and paint them horizontally. It is a good idea to number the shutters on the back and put a corresponding number on the siding where the shutter goes. Black is a very common shutter color. Painting the front door might be a good idea to match the shutters. Remove door handles before painting. Leave the door hanging in place and put cardboard or a tarp under the door so that will catch your slops.
I prefer door and shutters painted to match but it's not a hard & fast rule. You could go with a neutral for the shutters and something bold for the door as well.
Black would look really classic on the shutters. For the door, if you are questioning whether to paint it black, you could do contractors bags or construction paper in black to see if you are ready for that step.
I think a real change would be a soft yellow and not "chop" up the outside of your home as much as darker choices. Of course, a navy blue would look great as well as the classic black recommended.
If it was my home I would go with a nice deep burgundy. I love the gray, black and burgundy color combo. I realize you home isn't gray but it is close to a light gray.
I would paint them whatever color your dust is in your neighborhood, gray, brown, red, because cleaning shutters is a pain in the butt.
dark grey for the shutters. Do the front door something bright. Cobalt blue or yellow would look nice.
Hi Tammy, the answer is yes and no. Hope this helps you. Good luck.
View allYes…and No. It depends what you want. If you are looking to draw the eye to your front door area, then I'd definitely advise that you go with a more neutral tone for your shutters. ... When it comes to your garage doors, the general rule is to either keep them white, or match them to the color of your siding.

Whatever paint you select, make sure it's not going to "run", over time. There are any number of homes with paint that has bled from the shutters onto the siding, creating a real eyesore. As stated, keep in mind the need to regularly clean the shutters, particularly if they are lighter colored. Be aware that if you have mulch close to your shutters/siding, you risk fungus being thrown onto tose surfaces, creating more work at removal.
