These are some great tips. I would suggest you invest in a set of the panels, the kind people use for wainscoting, and use as a template. You could draw the "panels" on the door and then fill in with paint. You have a big job ahead with 10 doors. Are you going to do both sides? Just thinking of it makes me tired.

I still would take it one step further though and try to shade the outer edges so that the outer edges of the faux molding looks more realistic. To my eye, this project could use a couple more steps.

You can buy thin wood trim from lowes or home depot . Mark your door where you want your " panels" then measure and cut the trim and glue it in place . Then paint the door !

Practice first on a odd board or paper to make sure the effect is what you are looking for and alter it to suit requirements: - What you do is paint top and one side of panel light and the bottom and the other side slightly darker. This gives a shadow effect.

I would chalk paint and then use wax to achieve your faux look
