Mineral Spirits will take off the wax.

Hi, if you are wanting to remove recently added wax, mineral spirits works wonders. Add a little to a cloth and rub it until the wax comes off. If the wax has cured (was applied over 30 days ago) you can sand it. If it has been even longer and it doesn't not feel like wax on the piece, just paint right over it.
You can sand it down
Sanding it will be your best option.
Sanding is the only way to get all of it off. Actually this is why I do not like chalk paint. The wax attracts dirt, dust and grease. I would never use this in the kitchen.
Hi, if you are repainting with chalk paint, you can just right over the wax as long as it is dry
quote from the internet
