Bedroom Decorating Tips?
First of all, a lot of what you see in this picture is thanks to previous advice on Hometalk - so thanks so much!!
I’m looking for tips on the remaining decorating for this room (on a dime budget). Trying out Curtains but something doesn’t feel right 🤷♀️ (Don’t look at the hanging job - it’s just a test run). Not looking to put up headboard (too expensive). And need side tables for sleep AP machines so can’t remove those. Any ideas would be great! 2 Pictures - one with light on and other light off.
thanks so much!!!

Janie: I think the curtains don't seem right because they lack symmetry with the room... the curtain on the viewer's right is in the middle of the room. I would go with mini blinds -- or curtains that just skim the bottom of the windows - when they are closed.
Your rooms so cute!
When you do hang the curtains- try and hang them as high as possible - it will make the room feel taller and the window brighter. :)
Push the bed on the right to the wall so you have a wider space in the middle.. Make a table to share in the middle or two IDENTICAL tables side by side. Paint a band of color across the two beds below the window to mimic a headboard all the way across and below the window. Use a sheet for a curtain by clipping curtain clips with rings (Target has them) in a brighter color like the grey or pink in spreads and cut them to the length of the window sill not to the floor. Eliminate one lamp and add a touch of ribbon in pink to the top and bottom of the shade.
It might be that the curtains are too dark of a color with everything else you have in the room. They’re pulling visual focus first. Would a lighter color be in the budget?
Hang the curtains closer to the ceiling, the black has to go, it reminds me of Halloween (sorry if I hurt your feelings). Remove the nightstand against the wall and push the beds up to the walls, have 1 night stand between both beds with a lamp, this will also be the base for the sleep apnea machine(s). Was thinking sheers all the way across the rod-pick up a color from the bedspreads. Mini-blinds are not a bad idea.
I agree that the curtains have to go. Replace with room-darkening shades if possible with a neutral color.
Here is without curtains. Should I add anything more?
Using the color of the roses for curtains or draperies would brighten the room.
How about stenciling a rose onto each lampshade?
Hi there Janie: The problem with the room is definitely with the dark curtains. Go to the Ikea website and look at the lighter colored curtains. I personally like the room without the curtains. You could buy a ratan shade for texture or maybe paint the room a blushing light pink to go with the bedspreads. I do agree with Betsey that maybe switching the beds would give the room a symmetry.
These curtains are too heavy for this room. They are weighing it down. Chuck them and put up sheers or something more frilly or light in color and contemporary. I would remove that art, too. Is this a guest room or at a second home (2 beds)? I prefer/ my style is room darkening panels with sheers.
I have seen colored hombre sheers on amazon.com
They are graduated in color and come in several hues.
This would break up the dark color of the curtains and at the same time add some lighter shades of the same color.
Could you switch beds and put bigger night stand between beds? Single bed might look better away from the wall near bathroom door. Yes to lighter curtains.
You can fashion some nice window coverings using sheets that are in a color that works well with the current bedspreads. I'd also suggest painting the frames of the art work a lighter color and changing the round nightstand for one that has storage drawers. Keeping the lightness of the walls, bedspreads, etc. will add to the serene feeling of the room.
IF possible, get rid of the rod you have and hang a rod all the way from one wall to the other with a simple support bracket in the middle. We have done this by using an inexpensive 3/4" PVC pipe. They are easy to cut to length. We spray painted it black along with the PVC cap ends. You can also buy gray PVC pipe and turn the printed side to the wall. The rods we did came out looking amazing. When we told people they were PVC, no one could believe it. Then hang simple straight panels in pale gray or the rose in your flowers--a twin sheet would work fine. Let the panel cover just the trim of the window, but not cover the window itself. This will really open up your room and balance out your beds. I agree with others who have suggested putting just one table in the middle instead of the two tables. You could even hang a shelf and use it as a table. That would let you make it just the width you want. You could hand a second shelf below to store books, etc.

Paint the window wall an accent color for some pop. New curtains are a must, cover the pillows for more pop ( cheap sheets ). May want to pick up inexpensive throw rugs, by all means place the 2 side tables together in the middle. You really don't need much more, maybe a green plant?
I would not use curtains as they block light coming into room.Pllace heads of bed on another wall it’s too busy.Paint a feature wall a different color and maybe use art work on feature wall until you can afford headboards.Remember KISS when decorating it means keep it simple stupid .Simple looks good.
You could paint a faux headboard - just a colored rectangle over the beds.
For side tables, you could do a stool... I did something like this (you could use a different fabric), see the project HERE.
