Is there a way to repair an arm of a couch that has missing pieces of the type of rattan I have pictured?

Hi! Here's a link for a video to help you get started:

Hi Kaye,
The picture you posted does not show any missing rattan areas.
The video in Cynthia's link deals with wicker, not rattan.
Depending on where exactly the rattan is missing, and how close the area is to the bamboo framing, this technique may not be suitable for rattan repairs.
Hi Kaye, here's a great video tutorial that might help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlykTqp08-M
Hi Kaye,
This may look better if you use a flat Mod Podge and hold it in place until adhered. Otherwise I would cut the loose pieces off. From a magazine find a piece of paper that matches the colour of the rattan and cut them out. Scrunch them up into a ball to add texture and soften them. Then unroll and roll them up on a pencil or something smaller into tubes. Then unroll spread paper glue (Matt) Mod Podge would be good, and roll up to resemble the rattan. Maybe twist a bit too. When happy, stick the pieces required to the areas affected. Hope that helps! If not maybe use a clay and mould that to suit and colour it to match in. Otherwise I think you will have to live with it as is. Best of luck!
I would find an upholsterer that does it. However if you are looking at how to weave the rattan stitch pattern, check out this you tube video. She uses a type of yarn but it looks like the same weaving pattern as the rattan. It's called stitch pattern:

If you were to do this yourself, you would need the same type of rattan bamboo threads they used and then you would have to stain it to match the color of the piece of furniture. Good luck! Unless I wanted to really get into this craft, I would find someone who can repair it. It sounds like it is very involved.
Here is a link to rattan repair kit on Amazon, looks very close to what you have. For technique look to Johnavallance82 with the roll up, very good idea:
