Hi Pat, what has worked best for me over the years is to place a glass bowl of ammonia in the over overnigh with the oven door closed. In the morning much of the "oven mess" can easily be wiped away with a hot soapy cloth. If there is some debris that doesn't clean up with this method then another scrubbing with a brillo soap pad should work, then rinse well a coule of times with a cloth wrung out in clear water. I use the ammonia method on bbq grill racks by placing the racks and ammona in a large sealed plastic bag overnight. I hope this helps you! DO NOT TURN THE OVEN ON WHILE THE AMMONIA IS IN THE OVEN.

I use the bowl of ammonia overnight process. I warm the oven to 200 degrees and shut it off, then add a bowl of ammonia on the lowest rack and let it set overnight. In the morning, remove the bowl of ammonia and be sure there is good ventilation. With gloves on, wipe your oven clean. It is the fumes that does the work and not the liquid.
No residue from baking soda or cream of tartar to deal with. Repeat as often as needed.
Hello, Personally I have a expensive double wall unit with self clean oven option but I prefer to use the traditional spray on cleaners overnight and wipe the mess away he next morning. I do the same with the racks are use the spray on cleaner in a plastic trash bag.

Check user manual to see what they recommend. You may be able to get copy on-line if you don't have the copy that came with the oven.
I have found that the Awesome all purpose cleaner from the Dollar stores at .....you guessed it $1.00 works well. I spray, close the door and let sit for a few minutes. A scrub daddy or plastic scrubber gets most of it the first time. Rinse and repeat for stubborn patches.
Run cleaning cycle then sweep out
