Adrianne C on Aug 30, 2014I always paint the trim first, it's easier to cut in the wall afterwards.Helpful Reply

Shari on Aug 30, 2014I agree with Adrianne; I find it is easier to paint all the trim moldings like around the doors, windows and the baseboards first and then come back and paint the walls. After all the trim moldings are done, I paint one wall at a time. I cut in around the windows and doors, at the ceiling and baseboards, and roll the wall as I work my way down the length of the wall. I find I have to move the ladder less frequently that way.Helpful Reply

Lori on Aug 31, 2014I always start by removing any old caulk around the windows and recaulking since this is the best time to do it. Paint the ceiling, then the trim, then the walls.Helpful Reply

FrazzledMommy on Aug 31, 2014I do edges first (I used one of those edgers about $5 from Lowes). I also keep Lysol wipes on hand for any oops moments (if you use it right away it takes any oops off). Then I paint the rest.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Sep 01, 2014Paint the ceiling, then the molding...that way it is easy to get it straight. The best way is not to get in a hurry...let the paint dry a day or so. I then use a straight edge that is used to trim wall paper because it has a handle...hold it next to the molding and paint around the edges with the wall color. Then it is a quick job to then roller in the walls! (Keep an old towel or rags around to wipe the straight edge off.)Helpful Reply

Redo Your Room Online - Julie Jamison on Sep 02, 2014I have a heavy hand & always have oops (& sailor) moments if I dont tape off the trim and ceiling first. Its time consuming, but so worth it at the end. Good luck!Helpful Reply
