Hi Mary, do you know what the countertop was made out of? What it is made out of will dictate what you can use on it to get the shine back you are looking for. Maybe it is just laminate or is it something else?

have you tried to clean with white vinegar
I use a combo of blue dawn dish soap and vinegar. In a 32 oz water bottle put 5-6 oz blue dawn, fill the rest with vinegar and give it a mix with the cap on. Cut or poke some holes in the cap and then squirt some onto your vanity. Rub around, brush out the drains and wipe off the faucets.
