DIY Bird Feeders
We have so many birds in this area, and I always want to put food out for them. We just had a big snow storm, so I figured today would be the perfect day to craft some 100% edible bird feeders.
What you'll need. First, you'll need some dried out bread, birdseed, and peanut butter. You'll also need some cookies cutters, string, and a knife.
First, you'll want to cut out a shape in your bread.
Next, you'll want to spread some peanut butter onto one side of the cut out bread.
You'll then want to dip the bread, peanut butter side down, into the bird seed. I suggest putting bird seed into a bowl to make this process easier.
Next, you'll repeat this process on the other side.
You'll then want to grab your ribbon, cut it with scissors, and tie it in a loose loop.
Finally, you can head outside and place your bird feeders around tree branches. This DIY is perfect for folks of all ages, and the cold critters outside will thank you! Make sure you hang it from a branch easily visible from a window! That way, you can watch your bird friends as they enjoy their treat!

Hi All, I know we've all done it, and this is a cute idea, but bread is actually quite bad for birds. Please take a moment to read this before going ahead with this project.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
What happens when it rains? Will the peanut butter kind of seal the bread so it will stay together longer for the birds? I’d like to do this with my grandson, he would love watching the birds out the window during these long winter days, but it seems it’s either raining or snowing almost every day!
would bagels work instead of bread?
How do you keep the raccoons away?? They manage to climb my bird feeder and steal my black oil seed feeder as it is. They would think this is an open buffet. I like the idea but it wouldn't work for me.😪
