Hi Sandy, the instruction provided by others is great, but I'm still having issues with the cloudiness even after using the vinegar soaking method so I share you pain. :(
I have finally resorted to keeping the container portion of the VitaMix in a cabinet rather than on the machine itself, as it is unsightly to me.
You can put the top in the dishwasher, top rack. Also, I saw them put a few drops of dish soap and fill 1/2 way with warm water. Then start at 1, go up to 10, for a minute.
a drop of dish detergent, water and turn on for a few seconds. For stuck on foods (you should wash immediately after use though) soak for 30 minutes. You can also get a silicone brush set that reaches nooks and crannies. I have one that is 16" long.
