How to build a small boat dock?
We took apart our old deck and saved a section about 6 X 8 that I think would be a good top of a boat dock but not sure how to attach legs and set in the lake.

We have a similarly sized dock that rests with one end on shore and the other on legs in the water. If an arrangement like that would suit you, you could attach a couple lengths of 4x4 to the lake end. We attach the legs on land, but still usually need someone willing to stand in the water to help pull it out and position the legs to be level.
While we don’t use them, metal fence post spike anchors on the 4x4 feet could make it even more solid.
You can set the legs in five gallon buckets of concrete and they will be stable in the water.

Are you looking for a floating dock or a one that is anchored to land? Most of our smaller docks are floating docks, but we have to account for the tides.
Hello you might wish to check with your local building requirements before invest time and money in the installation. They might also be able to give some helpful ideas.
Hi! Zoning and building permits are often needed for any construction. Check with your municipal office for information about requirements. Many locations have regulations about any structure that involves a body of water. Good luck!
You might consider a floating dock using sealed 50 gal drums and stryofoam, otherwise it will require a company to come in a set the posts. https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=how+to+make+a+floating+dock+with+barrels&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Check codes first. Some lakes have outlawed drums.
Thank you for all the great ideas. I'm calling the town for more info.
