Unwanted onions in my yard.
-
Douglas Hunt on Jul 13, 2012It's a challenge to get rid of wild onions, Mary. Dig them out using a small, narrow trowel, trying to get all of the bulb in the ground. Or, paint an herbicide containing glyphosate directly on the leaves with a small foam brush dipped in the full-strength herbicide. Either way, this will be more than a one-round fight. Good luck!Helpful Reply

MARY T on Jul 17, 2012I forgot to mention that I have four dogs and this is their play area. I am concerned about what to use that is safe for them, as well. Also, I'm assuminig these are non-edible, correct?Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Jul 18, 2012I would assume they are edible, Mary, but I have no idea how strong the onion flavor is. I would not worry about your dogs playing in an area where you've used glyphosate on plants and it has dried. I'm not sure about Image for Nutsedge. You would need to check the label.Helpful Reply
