Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jul 27, 2012High humidity will cause sheets to become clingy when they get damp. If your running your AC and it is working or appears to be working correctly, It may be to large causing it to shut off to quickly. The result is the system is not removing enough humidity in the air. Try using a dehumidifier in the room to see if that makes a difference. If so, you need to check the size of your AC system. Over sized AC units cost more to run, and results in having to keep turning the thermostat down further and further until you feel cool. If you have that damp feeling even when the room is 70 degrees that is a sign of a system is over sized for the home. With everyone weatherizing their homes in an effort to save money, In effect they are reducing the requirement for the cooling and the heating of the house. While most folks do not feel any difference with a slightly over sized furnace, they do feel the difference in the cooling as it cools down to quick and does not remove enough Humidity within the air. Thus you feel damp. As a result you turn down the thermostat even more in an effort to feel cool. A real good example of this effect is on a hot day walking into a department store. Feels great right! But after a while you no longer feel comfortable. That is because they are just driving the temp down and not removing enough humidity in the air. Same thing happens in homes. The smaller they are the worse this issue becomes.Helpful Reply

Bernice H on Jul 27, 2012Ok Bob, I understand what you are saying, but these are sheeeeets we are talking about. You know? :) They make them so "soft" now, there is no stiffness to them. Even in the winter they are clingy, but that is ok then. Sheets used to be crisp until supposed customers wanted those soft clingy ones. However , your info is very good , something to definitely think about. I have many times thought about what the total weatherizing of homes does to the home and air in the home. Still friends?Helpful Reply

Junebugtx on Aug 05, 2015Hi Bernice. I know it's been awhile since you asked about crisp sheets and I had the same issue several years ago. I finally started using 100% white cotton Hospital type sheets. Here's a site that might help you find what you want. Good luck. http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/shopping_ellen_warren/2006/08/sweet_sheets.htmlHelpful Reply

Sharon La Tour on Aug 20, 2015Bernice, Have you tried a polyester blend?? martha Stewart has some beautiful ones, the higher the thread count is, they won't get those little pills on them. look at Tuesday Morning store if you have one in your area. I got a king sized 300 thread count for 17 dollars.Helpful Reply
