Tree removal: Cost, PLUS assume Tree company sells tree lumber?
-
KMS Woodworks on Aug 02, 2012This can vary by region and the tree type etc. a number of years ago I had a quote to drop some pines (straight trees) that were near my home and power line. One company quoted $150 per tree...which I thought was pretty outrageous just to "drop them" I had planned to buck them up and haul all of the slash. In my area firewood runs about $200 a cord for split pine. It takes a lot of trees to make a cord of wood. I the end I ended up cutting them down myself after some rigging and many other less technical drops. By the time I was done I cut over 50 trees from my lot and got about 5 cord of wood. I would probably not tackle branching deciduous trees...those are way more complex to deal with and boom truck can make for much safer work. Why are you taking these out?....are they diseased? Mature trees are an asset to most homes.Helpful Reply

Jim Ginas on Aug 02, 2012taking them down as they block sunlight to the pool, spiders and leaves drop in the pool, and biggest tree is my biggest concern If it goes doww in a Hurricane. either the house & pool are destroyed or even if it falls the opposite direction, the roots will tear up the plumbing to the pool, sprinkler syste, break up teh foundation of the shed and pool pump area, let alone potentially some of the pool. Branches have fallen during storms that broke a part of the pool pump and many fall into the pool and going to damage the liner..... issue is be careful what yu ask for! no braches . no shade! water gets warmer faster, grass stresses more!Helpful Reply

Clay B on Aug 03, 2012From what i've read, it's not cost effective to even try to sell the lumber. I paid $3500 for 11 pine tree's to be removed in my backyard in 2008, with stumps ground. I have 5 out front, and was quoted $1000(these are not as big as the ones out back).Helpful Reply

Jim Ginas on Aug 04, 2012well, had the company come in, expensive, but they did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. 2nd time I used them and although they are expensive, I will recommend them on Angies List. Thanks all!Helpful Reply

A Southern Tree on Oct 31, 2012In our area, we have to PAY to get rid our wood. There is NO market in our area. And, most of the time, we are having to take small pieces due to landscape, homes, etc. which immediately makes any small value disappear.Helpful Reply

Jim Ginas on Oct 31, 2012I an tell you the work done by James River was excellent. They come in behind themselves and cleanup and you'd never know they were there! big DIFFERENCE this year with NO acorns in the yard, all over the pool deck or in the pool! I'm going to have them come back for four more (LAST four!) next spring.Helpful Reply
