Adrianne C on Nov 14, 2014Perhaps you could speak with a professional cleaning company instead. If you've seen the inside of some air ducts, you'd not think twice about it.Helpful Reply

Trish Wild on Nov 14, 2014Hi Michelle Cleaning your air ducts certainly does work but make sure you get someone who actually puts the brush up in side to clean them & not just vacumn them. We had our house done & it is a lot less dusty. The duct cleaner we used also sprayed an orange scent in them & the house smelled wonderful for months and not to strong. The other thing to cut down on dust is by using a quality air filter in your furnace not just the cheap ones as that cuts down on the dust as well. Hope this helps!Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Nov 14, 2014I have a friend who has been doing HVAC for many years and he put in a filter system in his heat pump unit and it removed the bad air, smoke smell, and helped with the dust. It was a couple hundred dollars and the filter lasts 6 months or more with no pets. I had my duct work cleaned and it helped some but making sure the filters are changed once a month and even vacuuming the vents out. I am saving up for the whole house filter (it is a couple hundred dollars he says). We had a UV light one but that does not help with dust only mold and mildew.Helpful Reply

Marion Nesbitt on Nov 16, 2014Have a steam boiler so my dust comes from renos! My friends have forced air. They got an attachment to their furnace that filters the air and are really pleased. I would get the ducts cleaned and then install the attachment. May cost a few bucks but think it would be worth it. Who knows what's in the dust - bit of a health issue if there is a lot of it. Apparently, a lot of the duct cleaning equipment is designed for round ducts as in Europe, so make sure they have equipment that will clean square ducts.Helpful Reply
