Sewer odors in the bathroom
-
Jan T on Dec 28, 2014I'd be concerned about my sewer vent as well and toilet seal. If you live in an area where it snows, or your vent cap came off....it may need attention. Best of luck.Helpful Reply

Duane on Dec 28, 2014Many times a p-trap under the bathroom sink does not have enough water in it to keep the sewer gases from coming up through it.Helpful Reply

Linda Hunt on Dec 28, 2014P trap, vent are the culprits 90% of the time. Quickly look around base of bowl. do you see any squished yellow wax there or pressed out black rubber like material... that is your seal between floor hole and toilet. Hopefully these answers we have contributed solve or solved your problemHelpful Reply

Joyce on Dec 28, 2014My husband the maintenance man for a living had me run bleach down our tub and that cured my bathroom odor. It was in the bathroom that the tub was hardly used anymore after the kids moved out of the house.Helpful Reply

Carole on Dec 29, 2014If your bathroom has a 'wet floor' ie. a tiled floor with a drain in the middle of it, you could try pouring a few litres of water (about 5) into the drain with some bleach in it. Mostly it would be the water that fixes the problem. We had this problem in a rental apartment - both the bathroom and the en-suite ponged something awful. Both had wet floor with drains. The drains was where the smell was coming from. If the water has turned stagnant in the drain it will stink. You could also put some bleach down the drain holes in the sink, shower and into the toilet bowl to see if this fixes the problem. Pipes sometimes become gluggy with hair and all sorts of muck and this causes a smell over time.Helpful Reply
