I have been trying to put my cherry blossom theme room together and what you have all said is helping me too.
You could also remove the closet door and hang a Shoji door. Or you can make a Shoji screen and paint an apple blossom motif on it. The paper is translucent and is called shoji paper. Some people call it rice paper but shoji paper really has nothing to do with rice. Traditionally shoji paper (washi) was made of Japanese mulberry tree called Kozo or shrubs called Mitsumata and Ganpi. Anyway, soft muted colors and pretty flowers.
Find a lovely grey interesting branch. Tie little bits of crepe paper in a soft pink. Stretch the crepe paper ends out in the shape of a blossom. Instant cherry blossom Get creative. Hang on a wall or put in a vase.
