Wall phone: What do I do now? Attachment from phone prevents mounting
-
Cindi on Aug 19, 2015I have exactly the same problem, it's directly at eye level in my kitchen, we don't use our land line as we use our cell phones. I will keep an eye out for any solutions from other viewers. I just hand a picture over it but sticks out from the wall slightly, it's driving me crazy as I don't want to pay the telephone company $$$ to move it down lower behind my kitchen island.Helpful Reply

Becky Schaar on Aug 19, 2015I think this is the outlet I need to replace it and it will hide the DSL connector, but I'm hot positive. I asked someone on Amazon who bought it. I will keep updating! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LGIJFC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=A2P5I4NW0QQAX1Helpful Reply

Cornelia Schott on Aug 19, 2015If you are not using the landline, have you thought of removing the face place and removing the phone line and tuck the remaining part into the wall and then spackle the hole and paint over your finished result.Helpful Reply

Mandy Brown on Aug 20, 2015Could you make or find a little box the adapter would fit in that's a little larger than the face plate for the phone? Then you could drill a small hole in the middle for the wire to feed through to the back of the phone or even get another face plate to mount on the box that the phone would attach to like it would on the wall. It would only have to be as deep as the adapter and slightly taller/wider than the existing face plate. You could even take the existing face plate off and put it over the gang box underneath then put the original face plate on the box. From the size of the adapter, I doubt it would fit inside the existing gang box, but I guess you could try that as well.Helpful Reply

Ennarual on Aug 20, 2015I had the same problem in my kitchen. Instead of mounting the phone charger to the wall, I mounted a small wire shelf that was twice as wide as the charger. I put the phone and charger on the shelf with a pencil cup and a small tool caddy beside it to cover up the ugly plate and add on.Helpful Reply

Annie Medic on Aug 20, 2015Make a box mounted around it and paint it to look like an old fashioned phone You, the speaker in one hand attached with a cord, and put your phone on a shelf under it. So you have the old fashioned one on top with the other on a shelf below... and you can make an old fashioned one out of bits and pieces you cobble together and then paint yourself.. like this kind of: http://www.jcpenney.com/crosley-country-kitchen-wall-phone-ii/prod.jump?ppId=pp5004681040&selectedSKUId=80214900018&selectedLotId=8021490&fromBag=true&quantity=1&cm_mmc=ShoppingFeed-_-GooglePLA-_-Telephones-_-80214900018&utm_medium=cse&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=telephones&utm_content=80214900018&gclid=CjwKEAjw9dWuBRDFs9mHv-C9_FkSJADo58iMUVTKpwmPhXOlKPeuV3TJKiVfD1AAl6ak_CJduW4wcRoCE8Lw_wcB&kwid=productads-plaid^83170241858-sku^80214900018-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^45810124418Helpful Reply

Treasuredchaos.com on Aug 20, 2015I dealt with this for three years until one day the phone guy pointed to it and said..."Why didn't you tell us you needed a box there?" Turns out the phone company (mine at least) makes a wall mount with the attachment built in...for free to me.Helpful Reply

Rus1058682 on Aug 20, 2015That looks like a DSL filter, if so, try disconnecting it and just plug in and hang the phone. I had to do that for mine, and had no ill effects on my internet, which was connected through a wall plug in another area of the house. It never hummed, or bothered the internet, it worked just fine, as did the other phones in the house..Helpful Reply

Loretta on Aug 20, 2015move the filter to the other end of the cord so that it is closest to the phone. The filter isn't so the phone won't interrupt the internet, it is so the phone won't have noise from the internet like static or crackling.Helpful Reply

Gail on Aug 20, 2015I had those too till I installed a dedicated line right to the modem for my DSL. The phone company was able to do that so I don't have those all over the house. I had a phone near the modem and the phone company just changed something in the cellar so no other phones were on that line.Helpful Reply

Gerald Mccarty on Aug 20, 2015Your phone company should be able to provide a wall mount that includes the DSL filter built into the wall mount frame.Helpful Reply

Leslie ortiz on Aug 20, 2015Cover it up with a shadow box frame that's converted as a chalk board by removing glass and paint the background or call the phone company have them move the jack.Helpful Reply

Becky Schaar on Aug 20, 2015thanks to every one of you. I ended up removing the DSL attachment, and I don't seem to notice a difference. It's a phone just for the condo entry system, so I think it's adequate for that. I thought all solutions were good fixit or decorating ideas, thanks so much, could not have figured it out on my own.Helpful Reply
