Cork flooring is one of the least robust floors out there...the "hardness" of a cork floor is well below that of regular wood...and in wood there is also a wide range. Oak is very common and has a Janka hardness of about 1200...some tropical wood can be two the 3 times this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janka_hardness_test Cork is also an "engineered" product that "snaps" together and is installed as a floating floor much like a laminate. The cork deadens the "hollow" feel that is so common with laminates but both share the same vulnerability to spills and moisture damage with "swelling" seams and joints. IMHO the only location that would be acceptable would be a lesser used bedroom in a home with out pets or kids.

I agree with KMS cork is a bad floor to have pets on. Oak or tile are a good choice for pet owner's.

Beth, I think it also depends on the type of pet, and what it is "standing up" to...Medium and large dogs are probably a bad idea. Small dogs that have accidents are a bad idea, cats are fine, unless they spray... It's a softer floor, so it really depends on the use/abuse it will see in your household.
