Hello. I would expect the stone would be sealed to withstand a wet shower environment. In this circumstance I don’t believe stain can be absorbed into a stone to make a color change.
Natural stone can be dyed using mason's dye but I don't know if it will hold up to showering for long even with a sealer...... I would check with a professional stone company.
Hi Gail. I'm sure your stone was sealed when it was installed. The sealant used at that time was used as a barrier between the stone and the water. I don't think you can change the color on top of the sealant.
Hi Gail, if the stones haven't been sealed yet you can most definitely change the color with dye. Ask at your local hardware, they should be able to tell you which ones they have in stock. Be sure to seal the tiles afterwards so the color doesn't get washed away.

You can stain the stone as long as it has not been sealed.
