How to fix cast iron bathtub
Hi Jeanette,
You can buy kits to refinish bathtubs, however it's not a quick fix. You MUST follow all of the preparation and every step in the directions. So be sure to read the directions and packaging before you buy. If you do it perfectly it will look better for quite a while, but often DIY'ers skip steps or don't do all of the prep so it doesn't last. Don't be that DIY'er. The problem is that originally your finish was baked on by the manufacturer. Many people decide that it's worth having it done professionally but you definitely have the option to do it yourself! Wishing you the best.
Hello there, Cast Iron Bathtubs can be re-finished, with Enamel but I have only known this happen when the Bath has been sent away to be done. I understand some companies come in and resurface baths, but that does not have a long life.
It might be worth checking prices first because it might be cheaper to have a new one fitted.
