Is the tile cracked or do you just want to change the appearance?

You will need to address the issue of the increased height for the drain. The drain flange is screwed into a pipe. Next you will need to keep the same pitch to the drain for water to flow to the drain. Third you will need to make sure you have grouted and sealed to perfection otherwise water will seep to the old tile and cause a mold build up. It is more adventageous to break out the old tile and put in new. Good luck.

You need to remove the tile. That's what the pro's do for many reasons. One of them is that you will have a drain height issue. Do it correctly the first time, and it won't have to be redone.
