Mid Century Modern Redesign! MCM Nightstands With a Modern Look

It is rare when the hubs and I agree on furniture, I mean RARE! So when we stumbled upon this set and we both agreed this would be a set to keep, it was like woah, who are you and what did you do with my hubs? We also agreed on a vision, which is another miracle, I told him my vision and he could see it too. I almost thought I was being punked, but here we are with the first pieces of our new bedroom set complete and we both love them!

So what they don't tell you about the 3rd floor of the antique shop is that everything smells so it masks the smell of furniture too. To my surprise when we got this all loaded up and home, I was like oooohhhh nooooo. This furniture is rank! So I went about cleaning it with my GreenEZ clean and strip, after fully cleaning it, I then used Bin Shellac to prime and seal in any odors that were removed from the cleaning. This is a great tip if you accidentally buy a piece from a smoker, it's impossible to get those odors out but you can seal them in so they won't permeate odors!

I prefer to use the spray Bin Shellac, the can brush on or roll on method dries way too fast and I end up seeing brush strokes which makes me twitch!

I let the primer dry fully then apply 2-3 coats of Amy Howard Miracle Paint in "Pardon My French"

For the base of these I wanted to give them a little more flair so I removed the base and added gold modern legs. This was super easy, just removed the screws and knock it off with your hammer. So easy even I can do it!

I added the peel and stick wallpaper to the insides of the drawers, I'm in love with this paper! So modern and it goes perfectly with the pieces!
