You could even use mirror tiles or paint a design on the wall behind the bed to act as headboard if you are leary of using power tools. With minimal skills needed you could make a wood frame (the size of the headboard you need) and cover it with fabric or a fabric shower curtain if you want to go really big. Good luck!

I am not sure what style you want but when my daughter was little we created a headboard out of pvc fence posts. I used double sided tape to attach them to the wall and then placed her bed up against the fence post.
