Shelving is always a good option for getting things off the vanity, especially if it's a small vanity! I have one of those over-the-toilet shelving units that works well in my small en suite or you could attach two or three shelves directly to the wall. I saw a neat idea once using wicker cube baskets that were nailed to the wall and used for storing towels.

Think vertical. Shelving units or individuals shelves can create more storage space. You can vary depths of shelving, if space permits.

Ading a contemporary grab bar over the tub adds space for washcloths. Adding one to the exterior of a glass shower door makes spaces for towels and bath mat.

Keep toiletries outside the bath.Hang hairdryers and curling irons on a hook with a heatproof plate or large porcelain tile behind them.

Stack items beneath the vanity if you have one. If no vanity, look for a metal rod that attaches to walls and wraps around pedestal sink, or bars that attach to wall and floor on either side of sink.

Purchase an over the door rack for additional shampoos, etc.

My bathrooms are both very tiny, so I feel your pain! I have installed shelves above the toilet that fit perfectly between the mirror and the shower doors. Command hooks are also really useful; I’ve mounted them both on the back of the door and on the wall between the sink and the toilet ( works great for my hairdryer) I’ve also hung flat backed metal baskets to hold soaps, hand towels etc. We also made a shallow cabinet by cutting out the space between two studs and finishing it. Small bathrooms are certainly a challenge

The bathroom in the house I purchased 2 years ago is 5' wide and 5' 5" long. It contains a tub, with no shower, a stool and the smallest possible sink/vanity. Above the plumbing wall end of the tub and over the toilet stool are 2 cabinets that appear to be open stock wall cabinets for a kitchen. Each is 32" wide and 40" tall, with adjustable shelves. There is a strip of cove molding at the top of the cabinets. My ceilings are only 7' high. The cabinets, in my case, are a lovely golden oak and this has solved most of the storage problem in my tiny bathroom

I hung a shoe rack the (full length pocket ones) on the back of the shower wall. all my shampoo, conditioners, soaps razors ect... fit in it, and right at hand.
