How to hide an adjustable twin bed metal frame

My mother uses a walker on wheels so a bedspread and such stickout on the corners and they are troublesome for her. A bed skirt doesn't work because there is a huge metal piece at the end to keep the mattress from flying off the end of the bed. Ideas?

Mindy you could still use a bed skirt if you simply fold up the section designed to cover the foot of the bed. Place the skirt on the box spring and tuck the end portion so it doesn't lump over that metal piece or even cut it off. At least you would be hiding the side edges of the frame. You can drape a throw or little lap quilt over that piece on the end and treat it as a footboard.

Maybe tuck a pretty quilt over the metal frame.

Buy Zinus adjustable legs (amazon) that attach to the wood on the box spring, eliminating the need for the metal frame - those things are shin killers!

Cut foam installation or heavy cardboard the size you need to cover the area you wish to "hide". Buy fabric long enough to cover the installation or cardboard. Add 1.5 inches all the way around. Begin stapling in the middle of one of the long sides. Reach across to the opposite side and pull tight. Keep working your way across. Be sure the fabric is smooth on the other side. Do both long sides first. Make an angled corner with the short ends. You can Velcro your new "dust ruffle" to the bed frame. The hardest part of this project is cutting the foam installation.
