Fold the sweater over the bar at the bottom of the hanger.
For big cowl neck or cardigan sweaters maybe try to retrofit ypur plastic hanger with plumbing foam insulation which also has a self sealing adhesive strip- apply that to the two tops of the hanger? I think a pool noodle would be too large.
Cdgqyr is correct; sweaters are never to be hung but draped over the hanger. I use pants hanger for mine since they will hold several and swing out for easy access.
You can get some ribbon material and wrap that around the hanger to give it some padding
It's best to fold sweaters, especially natural fabric and not hang. It will stretch over time.
