Bedspreads are designed to fit a particular size of mattress, and if you see the sizing marked such as queen/king then in theory it will fit both sizes. Unfortunately I find that the multi size bedspreads and quilts will fit the smaller size better vs the larger size. Further with mattress today being made deeper in depth, this too will affect the fitting of the bedspread. I actually have a deep pocket Sleep Number Bed, and I find that in order to have proper coverage of the mattress that I have to get a king size cover. In regards to one side of the bedspread being shorter, sounds as if you don't have it centered on the mattress correctly. Even with centering the bedspread you might find that it still doesn't give you proper length for covering the sides of the mattress and boxspring. The only way to correct this, would be to add length to the sides, but the chances of getting fabric to work and the cost factor, it would be more cost effective to purchase a new bedspread that is larger in size.

You can still utilize your favorite bed spread. Purchase a solid color quilt of sort and use the bedspread on the top.

Depending on what the edges look like-(hopefully not scalloped, or curved in any way),you could Sew some wide lace or coordinating fabric around the edges to extend it to fit & cover better & then add lace to that; or have someone do it for you. Otherwise I don't see how else it's going to fit your bed. Good Luck!

A pretty neutral skirt (crocheted lace, perhaps) should work. You could also buy a twin bedspread (i.e., matelassé, damask, embroidered edge) in a coordinated or neutral color, split it in two and attach under the edges of your spread. If you need your spread to be longer as well, split the twin into 3 sections and sew the center piece on the top edge to tuck under the pillows. J.C.Penneys has all of the types I mentioned on sale right now at really good prices.

Well my dear, seems there are a couple of things you can do. 1- center the spread perfectly on the bed so it is even all the way around (it would be easier if we had a picture) then buy a co-ordinating fabric of some kind and sew a skirt all the way around two sidea and the foot. If you measure those sides and end, buy double that for the skirt. If you don't like ruffles, you could do an inverted pleat for a more tailored look. This is basically what Karen said but even if scalloped I think you could still do it, just sew above the scallop a few inches. 2- You didn't mention if you have a bedskirt or not, but if not maybe that would work. If possible a picture might get more help. Good luck. PS: I've done both of these.

I would buy a flat sheet, in a coordinating color, place that on the bed centered, then place the spread centered over that. I would not even try to sew them together, this would allow u to use the same top for multiple coordinating colored sheets, there by giving you different choices for different seasons or months or just for a change of scenery.

If the spread fits evenly over the mattress use a king top sheet over the box spring so that it completely covers that allowing it to cover the sides and acting like a bed skirt as well. You can find separates all over now and should be able to coordinate it with what you have now. Walmart has sheets that are separate. Remember this does not have to be a high thread count sheet. We bought independent moveable king beds. The are nice since we can raise the head and feet, but they take extra long fitted twin sheets. Try that search. They are never deep enough for our beds as mostly they are used for skinny dorm beds. Martha Stewart has them at Macy's but whew, sticker shock!! I would trade bed problems with you any day. Lol.

I'd purchase a less expensive solid neutral-color matlessae style bedcover in the correct size and use your favored one as a topper. If you center it on the bed, it should be a nice added layer of comfort to your room.

A bedskirt would be the easiest fix. You can get them fairly cheap through catalogs, or online. I like the ones with the elastic that goes around one side, so I don't have to lift a queen size bed to get it underneath. I bought a beautiful comforter and washed it without reading the label and it shrunk so as long as it falls below the mattress, this will work, and it looks just as good with a bedspread that's too short as it does a comforter.
