How do I make a closet tunnel to connect twin girls' rooms?

I'd like to safely create a secret passageway (tunnel) by cutting a hole in the closet wall. This wall is the only wall that separates my twin girls' bedrooms. Is there anything I need to do to make sure this hole is structurally safe?

Just make sure you don't cut through any electrical wiring. This link will help you think outside the box and keep the kids/house/pets safe!

Doesn't matter if it's a load bearing wall or not. Your not removing the wall. Just cutting in a small opening that you will be bracing anyway.

Rivera.twinsHometalker - Bearing walls will need a Header for any type of opening. (Building Code). Non Bearing will need to be framed in. As a homeowner these are decisions you make for your family which are the safest. There are videos on You Tube which will explain your construction project.
