I have mirrored sliding closet doors with gold trim. Very 80's.

I use two cloth shower curtains on a long wooden pole instead of doors in my bedroom. It's easier to get in and out of plus you can change the color pallet when you change your duvet.
Make it look like a frame. If you hate the gold find a paint to cover trim. Then use glass paint to cover the mirror. Then if you can you can draw , draw and paint a pic. Or use stencils when you figure out what yo want. You can also use Tatouage. I have it several places on the wall. People think I painted them myself. This product goes into the paint. You can rub your hand over it and you will not feel it. If you do not mnd the mirror,it will stick to the mirror. I have had all my Tatouage up for 12 year and washed it every year. It stiil looks like new. You by it from Tatoage.com.
I did the same thing that Sandra did, a tension rod and sale curtains from Target in one of my bedrooms. I still have the mid-80's gold in my master bedroom too, but it is a burnished gold and actually looks good with the brass hardware on my furniture so for now it is staying the same.
This is a cling film (not Contact paper) on mirrored doors. The gold trim will eventually be painted silver.
Tape off the doors and repaint with a metal spray paint in a brushed nickel or copper color for a totally new (inexpensive!) look
If you can take the doors down and tape off the mirrors an keep on he gold exposed and spray paint them black or white depending what your bedroom trim is, and you can add insert to them. Here's the ideas with the link
heres another insert for mirrors or furniture
Thank you!
