Cinder block bench?

Question

How to design a bench made from cinder blocks with 4 x 4 rail thru them for sitting and adding flowers to the opening ends of the blocks.

Hi Barbara, here's a video that will perhaps provide helpful info. If you leave the top cinder blocks with the openings up, you can then plant in the holes after providing a solid base material such as plastic or thin wood.

You stack the cinder blocks and run the 4 x 4's thru them. Make sure you use a heavy duty construction adhesive like Loctite that comes in heavy duty caulking tubes so your bench stays together and no one gets hurt. I see people that just stack them and use them. NOT a good idea. The cinder blocks are too easy to topple. Use lots of adhesive between the blocks and add a lot to every spot where the 4 x 4 touches the block.
