Totally customize the idea by first measuring your cuddle area footage first. Then draw out plans of duties your skill level could actually perform. eg wood skills; seamstress skills, old tire availability, finding a big spool, etc. Then begin creating what you have in your mind as the idea of the chair. I thought for a minute an oversized bean bag a possibility but that's what it would look like and I'm not in to bean bags. It could turn out a little differently that you had anticipated. I plan on duplicating the chair and have pondered items to use as I check off the possibility to recreate springs and my confident ability to recreate the rounded front of the chair. I specifically want a lounge like back that could intentionally come between a cold wall on one side and back then lower to open it up to a heating vent on the other. Draw it out then begin your journey. Have fun with it. I plan on making it a fun project and not a long multiple material process.
As Debbie eluded to, the cost of the foam that will be suitably thick and dense enough for this project will be the biggest expense. Foam is not cheap, anyway you slice it, and cutting round pieces results in a great deal of wastage. My suggestion is to price all materials, including the lumber, out first to decide whether it is worth your time to proceed with the idea.
