Buy two Ikea single bookcase cubbies and lay them on their side and fill with many of the Ikea baskets made to fit this unit.....I think the single unit is about 5 feet high......
Use upper kitchen cabinets in the height you want, or add feet, finish the bottom of the cabinets with baseboard trim to match your room and it will look like a built in. Add a cushion to the top and you have additional seating.
Buy your storage baskets first.... and then build the cubby holes to fit the baskets.... otherwise the basket is too small and there is wasted space....you can make adjustments on the ends... open cubbys or enclose it with a door or lift the seat to access.... if the baskets are not tall enough... create a "storage tray" like area under the seat... lift the seat to access the storage tray.
Following this - I need to make one for my dining/kitchen area. Most ideas I find are for windows that are in a "cubby" (walls on either side of the window).
