How do I put a roof on a existing deck?
We have a deck in the back of the house. I want to put a roof or cover over it. But there is only about 7 feet till you reach the roof. I would like something that still lets the sun in but can be covered in winter. The awnings wont work because the house is too short.

first, you want to check with your local permit place. there are certain requirements for roofs. then call at least 3 contractors. have them come out and evaluate your project. you can make deals with them, you would do site clean up, be responsible for having the materials in place etc. that may help your budget.
now, about that letting the sun in....my go to would be green house panels, they are polyacrylic very sturdy and remind me of reeded glass- with out the weight of glass.
