How to build unattached brick fireplace outside my covered patio?

i have a 16x20 cedar attached covered patio. The concrete goes just under cedar beam. Currently landscape flower bed is there. I already have outer brick. I do not want to go through roof. how to start in ground? Materials? Best way to cap it off?

Check your local code - I believe that if you have an adjacent roof, just like with a house, the chimney will have to extend a certain number of feet above the highest point of the roof.
