Bird feeders need to be in a separate spot from humming bird feeders. The two do not mix. I have 6 seed feeders in both the back and front yards and 5 humming bird feeders in separate areas. 3 humming bird feeders are right outside my bedroom window and 2 by the front porch for the more timid and young birds. I am in zone 9 and feed year round. These sites will help you.

My birds are little oinkers, they can easily go through 10 pounds of seed a day.

where do you live
I have what I call a bird park at our place. You get to it by crossing a little bridge. I love this space. I hung bird houses and feeder from the trees. This space is also where I have a chicken coop and quail run.
This area is actually past my garden. If you offer food they will show up so my best advice is to find a spot you enjoy sitting you can enjoy the wonderful.
As for Hummingbirds - they love lantana and zinnias. So if you plant those two flowers they will show up to enjoy your garden.
