Tractor tire topped by car tire. Wrap sides of each with paper table top covering. Firm cardboard om top of each tire. You can get old tires from junkyard.

    Could you use cable spools?

Ask the electric company? Tell them what for.

We asked electric company and were turned down as they had to pay a deposit on the spools.

Hi Brian, does it have to be a heavy wood? Can it be made with 1/4 inch laminate with perhaps a 2 inch sheet of styrofoam or other light material? It is also inexpensive. The thin laminate might be donated by a home improvement store since it will be for a parade in your area. They are usually pretty good about donating pieces they have cut and cannot sell for such community projects. I would call and talk to a manager. Good luck on your float!

Sorry about that. How about going to a junk store looking for round tops of tables. Might get a discount if you tell them what for. Ask participating ones to ask parents and friends for battered tables or anything round. Some cakes are square layers.
