How do I make slots for my DIY shoe rack?

I made a DIY shoe rack using an old garment rack, Tri-Ply Underlayment and L brackets. Now I fell like i should make slots so that each pair of shoes will go into a slot. My daughter told me i should but a back on the rack so the shoes don't fall off the shelves. How would I attach the back should I decide to put a back on it?
I would glue a thin strip of molding near the back of the shelf. Something the heels can hook over. Hope that helps.
I agree. Screw some boards or molding from the bottom of each shelf towards the back. Shoes will not slide off the back.
You can also run molding front to back to make a "nook" for each pair of shoes. One thing I do is put a pair of shoes in with one shoe pointing toe out, the other toe in. It allows me to put more pairs in a space because they nestle a little in the arch which frees up a couple of inches.
unless your planning to have it in middle of a room maybe angle the shelves like 45 degrees but instead of how hi heels would hang downward facing you with the heels hanging over the back edge to keep from falling off towards you... just an idea but maybe have the shelves angled but facing downward toward the wall. each shoe can still be seen and would be easier for you to grab n go from front rather than reaching back of shoes. well your grabbing back of shoe from the front face. I hope that came out right.
