Just answered your previous posting. Are you looking for the project that did that? I couldn't find it, but, maybe one of the other DIYers have it saved.
If you use zip ties that aren't real small, you should be able to have them hold the crates together pretty sturdily. Just make sure you use enough that they feel secure and can't shift.
