I like metal shelving. It's quick and easy to put together, It's adjustable and you can label the shelves with magnetic vent covers cut into strips and written on with a sharpie.

You've got great advice and links here, the only thing I can possibly add is to make sure those shelves are thick and sturdy. Items stored in garages are often heavy and bulky and you don't want shelves coming down because items that are too heavy were put on them. (Ask me how I know)

Strong brackets and scaffold boards make good shelves.................!
I would build them out of 2 x4.. for sure much better then metal
Stainless steel shelves , they are adjustable and can accommodate your labeled storage containers. Our shelf units have wheels with brakes so they can be moved if need be.
There are loads of ways to do this and it's going to depend on what you're storing, what space is available, and how you use your garage. Try the search bar at the top left, no doubt a zillion ideas will pop up.
