I have a self cleaning oven, but for minor spills I use 2 orange peels soaked in water 5 days then put baking soda on the spill and spray with the orange peel solution. It will bubble and bring up the grime. Reapply as needed. -

I have used baking soda and vinegar. You sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface, or just the bad areas you want to clean, then spray with vinegar and let the reaction occur and set a few minutes, then begin scrubbing/wiping. -

Commercially available oven cleaner "Easy Off". Put down newspapers. Remove the grates Spray in on all surfaces. In the morning wipe down with old rags / paper towels which you throw away. Wear rubber gloves when you do this. -
