How do you clean and keep clean those new black glass cooktops?

We just replaced our stainless steel gas cooktop with one that has a black glass top because that was the only thing available with a downdraft exhaust. I could always manage to get the stainless clean after cooking but this black glass top always look streaked and untidy!icon Does anyone have tips for cleaning a glass stovetop?

I have one and there's a cleaner just for the glass top.

They have special products for this but I usually just use glass cleaner. The trick is to clean up spills immediately. Don't let them dry for long periods of time. I sometimes clean mine twice a day depending on usage.

For cleaning I use sof scrub and for stuck on stuff I have a razor blade for scraping hardened stuff. I have done this for years on two separate stove tops. They pretty much always looked close to new. I'm picky about keeping stuff looking new.

I have had two glass top cook stoves. I don't buy expensive cleaners. I have used sof scrub and use a razor blade for hard to remove gunk. My stove tops have always looked close to new. None of this will damage cook top. At least not in my experience.

I also use a razor blade but i also sray some orange glow furniture polish on first it loosens it up and leaves a nice shine when you wipe it of

I agree with everyone else. You don't need to buy expensive cleaners for this type of cook top. I have the same thing and I've always used glass cleaner. If something gets stuck, I just put a warm wet cloth over it and let it soak. It may take more than once but eventually it will wipe right off. HTH

You can use vinegar or baking soda and water paste to scrub clean

A razor blade will take off even dried burnt substances. I don't even use a liquid cleaner while scraping. I vacuum it off, then disinfect the surface.

NOT BUY THE COMMERCIAL CLEANERS; found the best cleaner and cheapest around. When burner or cooktop is COLD; use toothpaste; let itdry, then use razorblade to scrape off the burned food. Then simply wash off the residue. Polishes the cooktop at the same time.

I have had good luck with baking Soda. After the stove has cooled down a bit, I sprinkle baking soda on messes and scrub with a wet cloth. I clean it after each use. I've had my glass top for a couple of yeas and it still looks new.

Doesn't the instruction manual give you directions? If not, call the manufacturer and ask their customer service dept. for help. I've done it and gotten great responses.
